As Seen on TV
We—Philip and Gil—are proud (and slightly amused!) to be veterans of the reality TV world, having now appeared on screen three times.
Our TV journey began in 2017, when we were living in central London. We appeared on the BBC’s Escape to the Country, hosted by the truly lovely—and very sadly missed—Jonnie Irwin. Jonnie was the epitome of warmth and professionalism, and we had a fantastic time filming with him. Although we didn’t find our dream property during the show, our search continued…
We eventually discovered our beautiful home, Old Hall, in late 2018 and moved in the following spring. We’d kept in touch with Jonnie, and after hearing about our move, he suggested a follow-up visit to see how we were settling into country life.
So, in the summer of 2022, we appeared on the BBC spin-off show I Escaped to the Country. Jonnie visited and stayed with us at the Hall, and it was such a joy to spend time with him again. Filming was a delight, and the episode received a wonderful response—with many new guests finding their way to us after watching it.
When the episodes aired in March 2025 (and again in a repeat in July 2025), we were overwhelmed by the positive response. So many viewers reached out to tell us how much they enjoyed the show—and many went on to book a stay with us at Old Hall.
We’re especially delighted that many of those guests are now regular visitors, and to us, that’s the best possible validation. It means that what viewers saw on Four in a Bed truly reflects the experience of staying here—and that tells us we’re getting it right. 😊
Our third television adventure came in June 2024, when we took part in Channel 4’s Four in a Bed. After being contacted by the Channel 4 team in 2023, and after a bit of hesitation, we decided to go for it. Yes, it’s definitely presented as a competition, but we embraced the experience fully.
We had a fantastic time filming in different locations, getting to know the crew and our fellow competitors. It was all terrific fun—a real adventure!
